Do y'all all feel that a finicky fish will still bit these bright colors? Guess I'm still lucky to have good vision but I'm so liery of the change. Maybe I need that push over the edge 2 of the 3 lake I fish I guess I cld see it working BC they have a good tent to them but one is fairly clear. I have my rods lined with 4 & 6 # p-line CX all in all OK but seems to be weak at the knot?

Sorry to bum a question from your thread.

Sorry for not being clear. I do use a Flour leader. The wateris fairly clear here on Cypress Springs so I can't get a bite without it, but I wouldn't consider not using braid - I catch far too many fish now that something just dosen't feel right, that I wouldn't have known about before. I was skeptical about the bright colored braid, but found with a 3' leader, it's not a issue & I can see every little movement of my line. I keep my finger on my line, but alot of timmes when you drop the jig down & it dosen't start it descent, I now know - SET THE HOOK!

Thanks for the info! Good stuff.
What kind of knot do you use to attach braid to fluouro leader?

Also, here is a cool FREE app from "Knot Wars" which - clearly - shows how to tie different knots.

you ever try mustad hook snaps?it's a small piece of hardware thats a wire loop with a hook eye you tie to,that you put lures/hooks on and you don't need to re tie every time you put a lure on. i use them on all my fishing poles, and even the smallest size on the fly rod.i tried snap swivels, and just the dual lock snaps and found they sometimes hang up with smaller size jigs, and mess up lure action.

Wow, I'll have to look up the knot I use & get back with you. I always use the same one & when snagged & have to pull real hard, my line always breaks right above the loop knot on the leader where I tie my jig on, so my leader connection knot is good.

I use a Double Uni Knot to tie my leader to the braid, but I only use 5 wraps on both the braid & Flour

    Thanks!
I was a newbie to braid. When I first spooled it, it would slip on the spool. I didn't know you needed to have some mono backing or tape or some rig to keep the 'cloth' from sliding on the spool. I asked Josh about it and he said he goes back and forth three times like his grandpa showed him and he doesn't use backing. I haven't figured that one out yet. Hopefully I'll get out to East Texas some time and he can show me. Until then, I use that same double uni to attach the Bonehead Braid to some mono backing. Works great.
I don't use a leader, they don't seem to mind.
But if I'm ever on a clear lake I'll try it.

I use backing. I have some old jumbo spools of BPS mono that I use. No use in filling the whole spool with braid. I can fill 2 reels with the same amount of line I'd use to fill one completely with braid. That's my , which won't even buy you a piece of gum anymore
