Okay, thanks. Seen them in catalogs and was wondering about them.

I started out with Okumas but was having trouble with the counters hangin ang not counting. Switched to a slightly more expensive Diawa accudepth 17LC and have had no problems for 3 years now.

I've had that trouble with both the cabelas depthmaster and my okumas. The button gets stuck down, I'm in the habit now of pulling up on the button when I reset the counter.

Hmmm, I cast mine 50 feet routinely.

I cast mine close to 100 feet on a regular basis on a 12' BnM PST rod with 10lb mono and a Bandit 300 series. It's all in the thumb, I've casted a whole lot worse.

I'm not surprised you had the same issue with Okuma and Cabelas Depthmaster line of reels because they are made by Okuma for Cabelas under contract. I've had them apart on my bench side by side and can verify that they're the same reels.

I like the Diawa's as well, I cast mine out all the time.
