If fishing bottom rigs I hook the 2 hooks together and hook the snap holding he weight o he hook keeper, then reel the line tite, catch it abou the second eye and spin the rod and let the line where you are holding it hook behind the second eye after several twists. I haul 8 or 10 this way stacked on top of each other wiht very little tangles.
If a Caps and Coleman rig, wrap the bottom hook around the reel seat attaching it to the top hook, reel tite and do the spin thing.

If I'm using a double hook rig, I take the top "hook" off (fas snap), hook the bottom hook in the reel and crank the reel until the line is tight. I then wrap the tag end with the weight attached around the rod.
I break my rods down and store them in my rod box to keep the sun off them.

If I'm just moving on the lake from location to location, I do not break the rods down, but I do put the bottom hook on the reel and then wrap the weight and tag end around the rod and the 2nd hook will be hooked in the handle of the rod.

That's my way and it works for me.

Do nothing just let the tangle happen then scream and curse. Works for me.
