The choice of BNM rod is really based on the amount of weight you are using without deterring from the sensitivity of the rod in certain weather conditions. Personally I use 14' BGJP to spider rig solely. Then again, I only use double jig rigs with an 1/8 or 1/4 on bottom and plain hook or 1/6th on top. IF, you are going heavier on your weights, trolling crankbaits or the weather conditions dictate a stiffer pole, then the Pro Staff Trolling rods are best.

I've read several articles that he was featured in and they all say they use BGJP, don't remember why they liked them over the others. Pretty sure they use them with heavier weights too. But I haven't spider rigged in several years and when I did I was opposite most on here. I liked 10 foot poles best because the tips didn't bounce as bad as longer poles in my little boat and it was easier to manage that length versus amount of line I would normally have out.

I have 2 12 footers and 2 10 footers that I spider rig with. I use a 1 oz bank sinker on the end with 2 hooks above that. I have used them for about 3 years and have never had any problems.

I have 8 122 bgjp and many other shorter bgjps down to 8 ft. They have been great. I've had them hung and bowed up terribly bad and never had one break. I've even used them to drag cranks before getting a set of pst's. I've broken 2 tips. Both were my own fault.

The BnM BGJP's are excellent for spider rigging. For spider rigging, the BGJP's, Capps/Coleman & pro staff trolling rods work well. The BGJP's are the most sensitive and the Capps/Colemans are the middle weights. If you troll heavy lead (i.e. 1 oz) or more or pull cranks go with the stiffer pro staff trolling rod.

Here is a video of me trolling jigs on the 14' BGJP's. Plenty of backbone.

I use them too. Work great for me, using half oz. weight.

If it broke on a 10in fish it probably already had been damaged.

BGJP is the only way to roll. Well at least 95 % of the time.
