Well apparantly not. They might be different but not better.
Has anyone used standup jig heads with any success? How do they work?
I need some 1/8oz jigs and was considering some.
Thanks

I use them quite bit for Walleye. Teamed up with a Sassy Shad, a Luck E Strike Lil' Thumper or live bait, they are great for bouncing on the bottom. I think they are best when fishing slow, and I am crawling the jig back. I have never used them for crappie. Just my two cents.
... three hours on a weekday afternoon isn't going to result in many replies, at least not all that often !
The stand-up jighead is primarily a Bass jig, as Bass are more prone to picking "food" off the bottom, than a Crappie is. Not that a Crappie won't take a worm, craw, or other foodstuff critter off the bottom ... just that they're less likely to feed below their body, unless conditions dictate they must.
If you need to present your lure/bait right close to the bottom ... I suggest using a 1/8oz weedless jighead or a "drop shot" rig

Like pappy said crappie as a rule feed up so i'd doubt a feller would do very good using em,if you need 1/8oz jiigheads i have several styles to choose from and if you're wanting to get close to the bottom this may interest you.Wire Guard Sickle Hook Jigs at Simply Crappie...Your one stop source for all your Crappie jig fishing needs!
