I been having me a good time the last couple of weeks catching slabs with BG baby shad called monkey milk, and the chartreuse red glitter. Sometimes one works better than the other, but at least one of them usually works decent. Fish are scattered in 3' to 6' of water, and lots of'em are full of eggs.
We haven't exactly tore 'em up, but catching 10 to 30 every trip. Half of'em really nice fish.

i use them, but i modify the jighead insert. i take a tube jig and put it into my vise and then add several pieces of flash-a-bou or some pieces of crystal flash. this little bit of something different has beaten my buddy in the back of the boat 2 to 1 several times, sometimes even more.

Sometimes when the fish are finicky in the summer, I've found that the hollow body tubes with the jig completely hidden in the tube does the trick better than anything else. In a pinch I've put a hollow body tube over a marabou jig where the feathers start to wear out or come apart too. Tube jigs seem to work well for me in wavy conditions when I cannot keep the bait still.

I use feather jigs in the winter. I use solid body tubes when the bite is good and when I want to catch bass too. The "BG" style baits work well as all around fish catchers. Slab Bandits are my fav in that they are sturdy and are relative inexpensive.
