congrats PAWPAW
As posted on the Louisiana forum.
Last evening at our annual gathering at Lake D'Arbonne in Louisiana, I had bestowed upon me the greatest and most meaningful award possible. I was presented with the 2012 John Moes Memorial Award of Man of The Year. I'm not sure what I've done to deserve this award but I accept it in a humble spirit and with great pride. The presentation was a complete surprise and left me speechless and in tears. For me to be speechless is new territory for me. I want to thank Ed and all the members here for the honor and I hope I represent you wonderful people with dignity. I've made many friends through Crappie Dot Com and I cherish all of you.
In my home there are no plaques, trophies, mounted animals, sheepskins or any other mementos of my life hanging on my walls or piled up on shelves. The memories are all in my head. This one cherished award is different and it will be put in a place of honor in my home and displayed for all to see. This award is more a tribute to all of you than to me, and to Ed's father, John Moes, who inspires him in all he does.
Thanks all, and may your lives be as full as mine and filled with many Blessings,
"gene"
ps: pictures forthcoming as soon as Photobucket allows me access. The site seems to be down right now.

PawPaw "Gene" is well deserved of he award. I believe PawPaw's response here to me in a PM after receiving the award says it all. This is an excerpt:
"I’ve been blessed in life and my goal is to make the road easier and more enjoyable for those traveling with me by always giving a helping hand and befriending all."
And in line with Gene's repost, here's what else I had to say in the thread posted on the LA forum:
Gene, what you've done is "everything you've done". Although I have not met you I don't think I need to. We've heard much about you which made it an easy decision for the JMMA Admin Committee. Here is one quote we received about you that I believe exemplifies clearly what the JMMA is all about:
"He is a kind soul, soft-spoken, God fearing man. He puts others ahead of himself and never gripes about it. He has had several hurricanes hammer down on his home. But he is the kind of guy that helps others repair and rebuild even before he fixes his own home. He put his fishing and his desires on hold to take care of his mom and his dad, as well as his father in law. He realizes that family and relationships is the absolutely most important thing in a man's life. He is a role model for his kids and grand kids. I hope you take the time to read the post he made today about taking his grandson fishing. It pretty much sums up what kind of man he is, as well as what kind of fisherman he is. Also read the responses he got to his post. You will notice real quickly that he has the respect of the La board members. "
This is one small excerpt from what we received about you Gene. You represent the our values well, and we are proud of that. This needs to be recognized so others can follow in your footsteps. A little goes a long way in how people treat each other. Folks remember the good that they receive and so to speak "pay it forward". This is something I learned from my father, and Gene, you represent those values well. It's an honor and pleasure to bestwow this award upon you. I just wish I was there to see the expression on your face. Hopefully we'll see some good pictures here soon.
I want to personally thanks Docwaldo and LAFishNut for their participation in presenting this award and also for keeping it a secret.
PawPaw "Gene", You're the best.
