I would still rather fish when it's cold and in the twenties. Than when it's 90 or above heat.
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later.

I am also one of the addled that never puts the boat away. 38 when it slid off the trailer this morning about 45 minutes before sunrise. That's the only way I can be where I want to fish and watch the ENTIRE sunrise, and this mornings was excellent. My motor runs kinda quick and it doesn't take long for cabin fever to start nagging at my nerves. I do my best to not neglect things on the boat- Murphy's Law about things going south at inopportune times- so I don't have projects like that to keep me busy. A few years back I started tying jigs and that helps with keeping the hands and mind busy. I would like to tell you how many hours I spend doing this, and how much enjoyment I get from this. I tie some that will never see the water or catch a fish, but they're pretty and are fun to tie. If you want to try something that's fun in the cold, grab the scattergun and go shoot some trap or skeet at a local club. This helps greatly cuz everyone else already there is going through the same thing you are, and the birds do stupid things on windy days that leave you talking to yourself. If you get really bored and want to liven things up, go shopping with the wife. Seriously. While she's looking at the 400th dress of the day, work your way to the try on rooms. After locking yourself inside for about 5 minutes, holler" hey, there's no toilet paper in here". I guarantee you will have to shop no more.

I should be thankful that here in North Louisiana the crappie fishing is best in the wintertime. we do more crappie fishing in the winter months than any other time. My biggest problem is that my home lake is very low and we need some rain to fill it up.

I'm glad I dont have to deal with this problem, Between coon hunting twice a week, deer hunting( Bow first then gun season) and crappie and striper fishing at least once a week , sometimes more, I stay busy all winter! I like the cold better than the hot! More to do in the cold months, just not enough TIME to do it all.

Never gets too cold for me to fish, I prefer it. I think you need to quit being such a Nancy boy and man up...or move back to Cali!

I live in Ohio, I fish all year round, no matter the weather . If I have time off work and plan to fish, I fish period. Thunderstorms , blizzards, doesn't matter, I fish.

If you're far enough south that your lake doesn't ice over, use that cold weather hunting gear to stay warm while crappie fishing, the crappie don't care if you're dressed in camo. I just bought a blaze orange bibs and coat from cabelas because they were closing them out, not thrilled about the color, but I'll be warm and dry, and for only $80.
