Fishin' from a kayak will downsize your amount of tackle & jigs too. Less can be better.

Well, ship me any gear you guys dont want :D
You know how boring it would be thumbing through a Grizzly Jig catalog if only a few colors of each bait were offered? Like Gabowmsn I generally start the day longlining with 20 different colors and about 5 different styles of baits following behind. Part of the thrill for me is the experimenting and dialing em in.
I use 1 type tube bait and 1 weight round head leadhead almost exclusively except when playing with baits a jig tier wants me to test. I have several colors but not too concerned with color most of the time.

I take the kitchen sink to a lake Ive never fished before. If it's a lake I know and fish often I make up a box that is specific to that lake.

my jig box fits in my pocket with 3 rods with mitchell 308 reels is what i use
i used to fish hand line with some bait like piece of hotdog when i was a kid don't know if you can get anymore basic than that, but over time you get new gear and tackle and it gradually builds up to tackle box full of lures, hooks, sinkers, bobbers, etc.
