I have a 2005 Tracker PTX175. It is v hull part of the way back. Rides real smooth iregardless of the wind or waves. The only thing is I am getting too old to load and unload her by myself. But she is real good when it comes to fishing in all sorts of weather and water.

I used to think I wanted a front live well so I didn't have to get up, or chuck fish at an open live well, now I put all my fish on ice in a cooler, and actually prefer it. Although my live well works fine, seems you still get fish that go belly up after a while, especially when it starts to get crowded, or you had some that were hooked deep. Don't worry about fish going soft after 8+ hours on the water when there on ice, and their not flopping around when you get ready to clean them. Even the fresh caught seem to go to sleep from the cold.

I've got a Ranger 690. Have had it for 20 years. It has a 32 gallon fuel tank in the front deck. I still get blown around in high winds. I can't believe that most things wouldn't act the same. You may want to hitch a ride with someone in a boat similar to what you are wanting and try your hand at running the trolling motor.

If you are really just ready for a boat change, that is fine. But if just performance in a cross wind is your issue, you may be spending a pile of money for a lot less gain than you hope.

What about keeping the boat but getting one of the iPilot trolling motors. It should keep you where you want to be.
