I don't use them either, but the school of thought is that light attracts bait which attracts predators (i.e. crappie).
Hey yall. I've seen alot of people using those little glo sticks down around their minnow at night. I don't see them catching any more fish than I do on a plain minnow rig so I'm curious what the school of thought is. So, any thoughts?

I fish off a pier that is lit up pretty good with alot of light on the water but the bigger crappie seem to linger where the light is fading into the darker water. I'm going to rig up my minnow with a glo stick and cast out to dark water and see what happens.

Try using a lighted cork. Depending on the wind and current sometimes I toss one out when I'm night fishing.
I went out to the lake Friday night and put glo sticks a few inches up from my minnow. My friend and my bobbers would be a few feet apart and I would catch the crappie while his never moved. It's definately something I'll try again.
