As winter approaches and the trees start to put on their winter face, i get nostalgic remembering the days in the woods as a scout and hunting in later years. The blustery days with the wind blowing the leaves of all colors on the road, and folks in their cool weather clothes pulled up around their necks as they hurry on their way. This is my favorite time of year for these and many other reasons. As we go to the lake, the thermos comes along for the ride, the gloves come out for the ride, but they got to come off for the feel of the thump. The colors on the lakeside make me want to slow down and enjoy the scenery a bit more than in the warmer months. Chile and stew make the house smell so good when you open the door after being out fishing for several cold hours. And the best part is that it's free, there for the taking. I know some folks relate to ball games and other pursuits, but this is how a guy that has never followed the team sports sees it this time of year. Hank jr. Was on the radio this week, and some of the words in his tune were "i might never get to see the pearly gates, but i've walked in the promised land". Nuff said. Thanks for visiting with me.
    well put sir!!!

    Thanks for that.
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.

I am with you and love to see the fall colors change. I look forward to it every year and when we went to Arkansas a few weeks ago I got to see the very beginning of it, but also knew we were a little early which was one of the reasons we went. Actually went up on Sunday and by Tuesday on the way back I could tell there was more color in just that few days and was saying that I wish we had waited just one or two more weeks to go.

I even took up oil painting for a bit a long time ago and that made me take a much longer and better look at all the wonders of colors that we get to see. I wish I had not stopped which I did before I got any good at it, but still have my paint tubes and supplies. Lots of really great brushes and a shame they are not getting any use now. If I had just a little more time I think that I would try again. Painting like that makes you really see it better and different because of trying to make a painting look like what you see. This gave me the or forced me to take a closer look at every thing.

    Good stuff Skeet!
