Living around Texarkana Arkansas / Texas------Close to I-30----Two hours from Dallas---One hour from Shrevesport, 2.5 hours from Fort Smith,Oklahoma is a stones throw.---I call this the four corners---Texas, Arkansas, Louisana and Oklahoma all share a border with one another and some of the lakes occupy two states. There is many lakes you will find that no one hears about that are great Crappie Lakes."" Lake Toledo Bend, Sam Rayburn, Palestine Lakes, Lake of the Pines, Lake Caddo, Lake Wright Patman, Lake Millwood, Lake Darnelle, Lake Quachita, Lake Texhoma, Lake Greeson----Smaller lakes but great Crappie Lakes-----Dierks, Dequeen, Erling, Black Bayou, Mercer Bayou, and I can go on and on with smaller lakes and when I say small like 10-12 miles in length and maybe .5 .75 miles wide.
These lakes I listed are close for traveling---I live no further than one hour from most of these lakes and than we have the Little Rock and Hot Springs lakes about 1.5 hours away.
Some of these lakes are not even known to folks unless you visit the Game and Fish web site and look. We have the Corps lakes and the State Game and fish lakes that are smaller and managed by them.
The Corps of Engineers manages the bigger lakes due to dams and flood plain protection----Than we have many many Oxbow Bow lakes off of Red River that covers all four states along its route.
Lousiana has the Sportmans theme--- Arkansas, Land of Opportunity----, Texas, Don't Mess with us and Oklahoma, Native State.-----Oklahoma has two or three lakes that are very close to Arkansas and Texas that has produced 3 lb. Crappie.----It is not uncommon to see Crappie fisherman from all of these states that visit other lakes close by. We have many many great camp grounds directly on the water.
We all have one thing in common---I love all of these states and can and will claim them all as my home--We are that close.
We have Recreational lakes for the ski jocks at Hot Springs------The rest of these lakes are fishing lakes and well suited due to the habitat within the lakes-----Stumps and trees, many of them---Boat runs and buoys must be adhered to when running or get off the throttle when out of the runs and I mean immediately or else????????---You fill in the blank_________.
*****I am proud to be a member of this web site and to see we have some great folks that love to Crappie fish and do their part in improving the lake habitat for our sport and to keep them clean, teach the younger generation and share information within the sport on fishing, equipment or just anything.---Just ask and see the response---Safety is your job.Thumbs UpHands Clapping
