I'm pretty sure I know how to "use" a rod. Had many of them in my hand over the years and never had even an ul break on a less than foot long bass. The popping the lure out of grass would be way less stress than setting a hook so that comment don't hold water.

I wish I would have seen the reviews on the BPS website before wasting a trip and time on another rod of the same make. Like the last poster said there is complaint after complaint of these rods breaking. This rod was to replace a Shakspear 6' ul that I had for years from WalMart. Earlier this year I hooked a 30+ pound grass carp in the tail with a jig. I played that carp for over an hour chasing it with the boat. Ul rod, 4# test line, crappie jig... the rod held up fine. I doubt that Browning would have survived the first run of that carp.

I bought a Wally marshal combo set once that did the same thing to me also from BPS. Never had one before and thought I would give it a shot. 3 sets later and 4 trips to BPS I got a different set up.

I agree that you can get some batches that all in the same box are defective. Now I make sure I test each rod I buy before leaving the store.

That is odd. Browning normally has quality products but I suppose they have a deal with BPS and can unload their less than perfect stock. I have never had a problem with Browning. I have several Browning rods that are over 10 years old and they are still in one piece. Of course I think Browning should stay with their high end guns and stay out of the fishing business.
