pretty nice report, dont ya just love it when a plan comes together... and on the sam heaton, just bought my third one, 11 footer to go with the two 10ft. they are nice for sure,,, congrats on your day
I decided to take my "creek boat" on a little paddle up late yesterday.
i have a new B'n'M Sam Heaton 9 ft rod that i wanted to try.
paddled up a section of bear creek. loaded up a small float with with a 1/16 road runner jig head and a strike king ragetail slab hammer crappie grub (THESE ARE NICE !!!).
i started catching crappie at the first stump that i tried. all were caught in less than 3 ft of water. ended up catching 15 or so in under 2 hours. which i was proud of since it is so hot.
the sam heaton rod is incredible. very sensitive.
no real "slabs"...most were about the size of the one in the picture.

That's a nice catch...plenty for a fish fry. Congrats.
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.
i love the sam heaton. i worry about it being a little on the "delicate" side. time will tell. i'd buy another if i broke it.
i have a heavier 12f ft brushcutter too. but fishing with anything longer than 9 or 10 ft is cumbersome on the creeks. i like using them better on open water where there aren't trees everywhere to hang on.
those rage tail grubs may turn out to be a real winner for strike king. that tail really moves.
Nice trip with a good catch. Show a pic of the boat maybe? I have a couple of the BGJP by BnM in 8' and like em a lot. Those Sam Heaton rods are sweet.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
here is a pic of the boat.
it is a lousiana type creek boat. it'll float in less than a foot of water. just the ticket for creek fishing.
Look like our little duck poke boat... Those things are stealthy for sure. Congrats on a good rod and great trip
Wow, 3' of water in this heat! Great report.
