Here in Illinois it depends on the body of water. The limits are set to best meet the needs of the fish and the habit. For example Lake Evergreen used to have a 9"/25 limit per day per person, I believe it is 15 per day no sixe restriction now.

Most of the other water I fish is 9"/25 limit.

In PA, there's no size limit, and you can keep 50 per day. The 50 per day is a combined limit of panfish, so if you have 20 bluegills, you can only have 30 crappie. There are a few lakes that do have different size and possession limits. I'd like to see them go to 20 or less per day. Our crappie fishing stinks in PA!

That's what kills me, when people take all they can haul and then after a few years complain the fishing sucks. Hmmm... they just don't get it.

Are there places in Arizona that you can catch "all you want" on a regular basis? I may have to relocate when I retire.

    .

Idaho, Oregon, and Washington have NO limit on size or number. This is considered trout country, crappie are trash as are perch and carp. My wife and I have a self imposed limit of 50 over 10 inches.

As Dr John & Tenncrappie mentioned, mostly 10" minimum length and 15 fish per day. There was no size or creel limit until the 1980s, if I remember correctly the first creel limit was 30. If I had my druthers, TWRA should reduce creel limits to 10/day. Hope I don't offend anyone, but they're getting scarce at times. When I was younger it was common in early spring to catch 100 per day or more, two at once. Some blame TWRA stocking Striped bass preying on crappie, others say drought, others say deterioration of cover. Probably a combination of these and other factors.
