If you can afford them get them, but don't finance one on Mastercard. My bestest pole is still at the bottom of the lake still waiting on me. I got to use it three times, the ol' King Neptune grabbed it out me hand.

Here's a little background on Gary Loomis, his prior occupation was in the aircraft industry, namely Boeing in Washington state. He was intriged by the carbon graphite used on high performance aircraft and tinkered with making fishing rod blanks with it, He worried the cost would be too high, soon everyone who handled one of his rods wanted one and he was quickly falling behind and had to employ people to keep up. A true American success story.

Perhaps another Loomis rod would be even better?
Thanks for any and all suggestions .
I have the sr720...the $140 version and I use it for bluegills. I have had the rod for 2-3yrs now and love the rod. I don't know specifically about the rods you mentioned so I can't help there but my 2-cents is the UL would be too "whippy" to throw what you want. I looked at the UL at the same time and decided on the other.

The rod feels and works great and I think you will love your choice. Choose the rod you think works best.

I use St. Croix but if I could afford Loomis I'd have them. Rods are like most everything else.................ya get what ya pay for. The quality of a Loomis is unmatched as is their garantee.

I agree. If I could only pick one it would be the SR781 6'6 UL.
