I do not think a separate forum is needed. I believe it is more personal when it is an individual thread for a particular member.

Slab, not sure you need a seperate forum for this idea. And I think the concept is a good one. Maybe all that is needed is for the rules to reflect that threads asking for support be allowed in whatever existing forum they are posted in and for the membership to have enough character to respect that there are people who need that moral support and lots willing to give it. I see no need to sned every such thread to an off topic forum. If the board were to see an substantial number of such post that would serve as confirmation of the need for such a forum, not a more diligent use of the delete or move button.

Lots of folks in this country are hurting and regardless of your faith, denomination or beliefs, imo, it is simply the right thing to do to encourage them. What difference does it really make if for some of us that means adding those people to our prayer list or simply taking a moment to say a word for them?

I think the sub forums are a big part of what makes this site so great! Lots of places to go and lots of stuff to read! It also organizes the site better, if you need help with a piece of electronics on your boat you know where to go. If you want to start tying your own crappie jigs, you know where to go. If you want to make and sink some crappie structure but aren't sure how to go about it, there's a place for that too!If you aren't interested in these subjects you don't have to look at them.

I feel that the more sub forums there are, the more interesting this site is... and they also make the site more "user friendly"!

Can y'all imagine what a mess this board would be if it was just the main crappie board?

I was for it before last night. It seems that it will cause hardships between members and that will end up being wrong for Crappie.com
I see nothing wrong in asking for prayers on your home state board, I also think us Mods do a good job with not letting it get out of hand.
This is just my thoughts and I don't want to see hard feelings between any members here.

    Yeah.

In fact, you could probably delete the 10-15 least popular forums and nobody would even notice.

I see no need for another forum for Well wishes. In all of the State forums people from time to time make Prayer requests which are respectfully answered by those interested. I see no need to change....it is working good just like it is.

Slab I am not for a board for that and here is why. I don't want to talk to people I don't know and talk to all the time on these boards about things that make you want support. If I want support (like I have since 2006) I want to ask it from guys and gals I talk to all the time. I want to post on boards I post on all the time.

How much meaningful support are you going to get from people that don't even know how you are. I only post on several boards here and they would be the same one I would want to post of if in need.

If there was a special board for this no one her would know about my son at all since I wouldn't post on it. I only want to post on boards I am comfortable with who is on there and that I talk to all the time.

Anyway that is my 2 cents.

    Also Ditto G3 posted comments.

OK, the votes are in, enough said, no new sub-forum for well wishes.

Like many have mentioned, it's best to ask for support from those that know you, on the board you frequent, much more meaningful. And if you are not interested in participating, you don't have to read it.

I'm also not a fan of moving every gosh darn post to exactly the correct forum it has to be in. The organization of the site is a guideline, and if it's super obvious the thread would be served better in another forum, or if it's disruptive to the current forum, then it should be moved. It does not have to be moved immediately, as long as it ends up in the right place for future reference, that's cool. And even if not, it'll turn up in a search. We don't have to be so rigid, we can be flexible. If something works, we keep it, if not, we can change it. Thanks everyone, for all your help in keeping this the best fishing site on the net.

I think it should be left as it is on the main forum. If someone has a loved one that is ill or has passed away and would want some love and support for them and their family. This is the place that would reach the most people and friends. If it is put on the State boards then a lot of people won't see or know about it. I don't visit all the State boards so would miss a lot of those requests for a prayer. The Main board is where the most people will see and be able to respond to a request. They aren't that often and I really don't mind a prayer request from time to time. If it is put in a special forum than a lot of people won't be visiting that site and again will miss seeing a notice. I think this is the best solution for this situation.
The memorial is a different situation and deseves a special place for the fishing members and friends that have passed. This is just my opinion but think it is the best solution for this particular request. EB

This board is about fishing for crappie and bluegills. Let's keep it that way. Keep the off-topic forum and rigorously enforce the "no off topic posts" rule. Forum moderators should move any post that does not fit in the forum it was posted in. At first some folks are gonna complain but soon it will be second nature for folks to post where it belongs. My 2cents worth.
