Hey tree, where do you put in at whne you fish Old River?
Well we made the trip over to old river, french fork on Monday, caught a few crappie nothing of any size, ended up with around a dozen or so along with a few brim. Really was slow until around 1:00pm when it picked up a bit, but we had to leave around 2:30. Fish seemed to be holding about 12-15 ft away from the bank suspended in about 3-4 ft. of water, pick one up here and there fishing with shiners and jigs tipped with shiners. Plenty of gar to contend with as well. Here is a pic of my fishing partner with a couple crappie.

Hold My beer and watch this sheeet!!!
Tommy, We launched at the Texico Town landing at Archie ,La. Which is located between Jena and Jonesville on Hwy 84 east. It is only about 5 miles or so after you pass Whitehall. There is a dam there and you can launch on either side, the left side being old river, and the right side some call little river which runs back to the ouchita and black river. We launced on the old river side, the first fork to your left as you go down old river is called french fork, if you continue straight ahead your still in what is called old river. I am repeating this from what I have been told, this was my first trip there. Hope this helps.

Catch and Release: Catch the slabs and Release the little'uns
Hey TreeFrog, since you're in the area, you ought to give Larto/Saline a try sometime. It's just a little bit farther. Also, if you come up Little River to Jonesville and turn north up the Ouachita for about a quarter mile or so, you have the Tensas River to the right and a little farther upriver, you have HaHa Bayou. All of these are very productive when the water's right.---Pooch
