Default What a Day on Chicot!

Started out fishing for bass - nothing - but the cottonmouth fell into the water instead of into the canoe.
Then I begain fishing for bluegills - and somehow avoided all of the wasp nests in the trees I was fishing around.
Then I went deep, fishing jigs around a few grassbeds, and gave thanks that the alligator finally realized that my canoe was not a female in heat!
    Or however alligators get inspired.
Anyway, I came away with the two smallest goggle-eyes I have ever caught.
Can't wait to do it again!

It was a tough day Pete. I fished from 3p-8p. I caught 8 white perch and threw 5 back. I did manage to keep 12 bull bream and 4 redears.. All were caught on a 1.5" black flake jig, pumped up w/nibbles.

I fished the north end of the lake hitting all my good spots with no luck..

    Better luck next time.....

    Thumbs up Sounds very familiar!

That trip sure sounds like some of mine. . .

    I've experienced:
Devil's Horse hooks lodged in my arm...cut the line and kept fishing. (regretted that later)

Lost glasses in 60 ft. of water. (heckuva drive back home)

Snagged alligator by accident. (regretted that immediately)

Friend #1 in front of boat catches large "bullfrog" by hand, instead comes up with large cottonmouth, slings it straight up. It lands in bottom of boat just in front of Friend #2 who immediately fires three shots of 12 guage #3 buckshot through the snake AND through the bottom of the boat. (regretted that immediately)

Wind caught the end of my 14 foot alum. boat. Swung around and smacked a dead tree. Top of tree containing red wasp nest as large as my head broke off and fell into said boat. (regretted that immediately AND later until the swelling went down)

i bet i have released a couple hunderd in the last week, man they have been taking dragon nymphs, and green sinking spider.
they are not bedding yet where i fish ,although i have caught a lot of fish at the beds, no sign of fanning yet.

The things that memories are made of. Y'all are just too exciting to fish with. Please do me a favor, don't invite me to go fishing with ya. I can't take all that excitement.

Yeah, well - if you're gonna have fun, you've gotta face some adversities.
I seem to have gotten the adversities down pretty good - now where's the fun part?
