    Default Crappie on Little River!

Well, finally got a chance to go fishing on little river up by Jena, LA. Went out on water around 3:30pm, fished till dark.Boy was it hot, glad 7:30 showed up. We used my buddies BnM jig poles rigged with a slip cork about 3 to 4 ft. Used shinners for bait. We fish the stumps and ended up with 16 fish caught alot of throw backs, and missed some fish also. Had a blast because I was not in my boat, his poles...I just bought drinks and all the bait.. We caught a couple hudge bream on shinners,,never have I done that before. I didnt know bream did that. Had some cats, and the rest crappie. The water on little river is very low and there was no current. Will be going back next week to fish again, crowds are large on weekends so we fish during week, in the afternoon.

I've had good luck on Little River, this time of year, drift/trolling down the middle. I guess they're trying to find the coolest water available there.---Pooch

Sounds like you are gonna be in the market for a couple of jig poles. Those cats will give you a fit on a jig pole. If you get a cooler day take those boys out and let them jerk in a few before school starts again. Nice catch on a hot day!!!!
:D Bought too cheap and kept too long!!!!:D
