    Default Larto Cancelled Reservations!!

The lady that owns Larto Lodge called me yesterday to cancel our
reservation. She said it was about a butane tank that was too
close to the lodge. I called back again today, wondering why the tank
couldn't be moved before the 15th, and talked to her husband and he said it
was because the hot water heater leaked and flooded the whole lodge. Not
sure what's going on there. I've checked the rest of the places around
Saline/Larto, all were booked up except Wiley's and he had only six beds in
two mobile homes. I've been trying to come up with another lake, but all I can see where we might have a good chance to catch crappie would be Toledo Bend, and it's about the center of the state. I'm not willing to cancel untill I'm completely out of options, so when I post the bad news, I hope to have at least one viable option for everyone to consider. If everyone is ok with Th' Bend, I will have to get some help from some of you guys that fish the lower portion of the lake and might know some good places to stay, and hope they aren't booked up. I can't express how disappointed I am that it's worked out this way. If we reschedule the following week-end, we will lose some of the oilfield hands, so I'm going to do my best to make the original date. I hope to get everyone to jump in and help to find a place on South Toledo. We gotta work fast. If any of you know a place that you like, post me on the board or email me with the name and ph# of the place.... motel, cabins, whatever. Let's hope for the best.

    Default toledo bend

labill, toledo has a south tol. state park on the south end of the lake but I think there is a 2 night min. on weekends. Another good place is Big Bass or Buckeye's they are both on the south end. Big Bass # is 318-586-4721, Buckeye # is 318-586-7500 but the last time I called buckeye the phone was disconected.

    Default Toledo Bend

labill, Big Bass has a store and gas but no live bait but there is a place just down the road (2 or 3 minutes) that carries live bait. Shadows landing is another possibility that is on the south end of the lake. Big Bass and Buckeye are in a cove so the wind would not really be a factor Shadows is also in a cove.

I saw "shadow's" on the map, but haven't called it yet. It got too late before I got all the numbers called. You're right about looking for a protected cove in case of the wind getting up on Toledo, it can be really bad. Will start calling again tomorrow. Thanks for the help........

By all the emails I've been getting, seems almost everyone still wants to fish Saline/Larto, which means Wiley's is our only option. At the very most, he can house 12 in the two trailers that are open. There are campgrounds, but I think they are primitive from what I've been told. I know that some of you live in the area, maybe that will get us by if we stay at Wiley's. If he still has the 2 trailers open, and he will allow us to double up 6 to a trailer, the cost will be $13.33 per member, which will be just a couple dollars more per member than Larto Lodge, but I've got to check and see if the trailers are still open.

I've checked all the places I know of in the area, this will be our last shot at Saline/Larto unless somebody comes up with another place, then we will see about Toledo.

Hey Labill I Would Like To Still Have The Saline/larto Tourny If Possible. The Only Campgrounds Other Than Youngbloods Are Far And All Campgrounds Are Very Primitive No Water Or Restrooms.if Possible Let's Still Have The Saline Tourny And Plan For A Latter Attoledo As I Would Be Interested In Fishing Both

I'll do what I can, I've got a call in to Mr. Wiley. I had called him earlier but he was out. I talked to his wife about the tourney and what we had in mind to do. She said she would have him call me when he was back, and she added one snag that may give us more trouble. They rent for two days only when on the weekends (Friday and Saturday) no less, which means they want us to pay for Fri. and Sat. both. I heard some talk of some of the members thinking about staying over to fish Sunday. Maybe it would satisfy the Wileys if several of them would stay another day. I'll post as soon as I hear something.
