    Default Grand Bayou Canoe 09/30/07

Took my cousin back down to Grand Bayou this Sunday for some more bass fishing. We brought the trolling motor to clamp on the canoe this time so we were more mobile. Good think to becuase the fish were no longer schooling off the points. We tried where we have been hammering them and they did not show up. No shad, no busting, only 4 bass...

But we turned it around. I had brought some shinners I had leftover from Cypress and we started drifting them for crappie. No luck until we blew into some brush and I picked up one nice sized black crappie.

He came from about 6-7 foot of water near the brush exposed from the drawdown. Did not stop to work crappie like I should have once I figured this out because the bass started busting all around. We caught 6-8 school bass in about 5 minutes.

Here is Clayton with one of the schoolies... I took it cause I liked his "sun hat"

After the school bass moved on chasing shad and we managed to find some brutes holding in cover in the surrounding area. In the next 30 minutes we hooked 4 fish over 3lbs. Landed 2 of them and the two bigger onees got away. Clayton had a monster throw the hooks at the boat and I had a drag puller take me in the brush. I jumped in to see if he was still on there like last time but all I got out of it this time was a bath. :o

Here Clayton is with his goodun...

    And here's mine...

Not a bad day with about 20 bass and one crappie... and found a new area to fish um which is the best part.

I miss fishing that lake. First time I went there I caught 20 LMB on black/blue jig and never cranked the big motor!
