Johns, welcome to the site. As for Bisteneau, I have read good reports on here about the crappie over there. Send Steve (aka BamaFan) a pm if he doesn't respond to this post. I think thats one of his local holes. He fishes around the Port O Bistineau out of Sibley.
You can't fish with a hung line!
Glad to have you onboard. I know you will like it here. you can find out a lot of info and hows and whens. You won't find a better bunch of fishermen than on crappie.com.

GO GET UM
Welcome to the site Johns. Bistineau is a fine crappie lake.
It was sad driving across the Bistineau dam couple weeks ago though. I was comming from the Ringgold side and bout 1/2 way across the bridge everything looked fine. Then the water turned to a mass of green plants... It looked like ground where the water should be as far as I could see up the side of the lake with the spillway. I guess its all the silvania packed up there where the water flows out.
Really sad what that plant is doing to the lake... Pretty soon the spillway fishing will be covered up most of the year out there...
Hope they get it under control...
But as for Bistineau fishing Bamafan, Cajun Dave, and Dmann are the one to talk to. I fished it for crappie for the first time last year in the coldest part of the winter. Got in um pretty good at Port of Bistineau right there in river channel on the edge of the cypress trees.
Here is a pic of one of the better days at the port...

Went to Bisteneau today with shinners.
Saw a lot of fish 8-10 feet but for some reason could not get one strike.
Used bobber.
Is it me??

Hey Johns nice to have you here, you will learn alot.
First off I think Dmann would have more round about knowledge when it comes to Bistineau, he will come around, I think he is a deer hunter so might not hear from him for a little while. I have fished mostly North of the State Park and most of that is in the winter. The bite is good around the Diamond T and Port O Bistineau areas when it gets cold. The fish will be stacked in the channels. There is a slough and I can not remember the name but it starts at the State Park and meanders through the cypress trees and comes out just North of Diamond T, alot of people do real good in this slough in the spring and fall of the year. If you do a search on Bistineau I am sure alot of post will pop up. Good luck and hope to see you out there.STEVE

There are two things to aim for in life: First, to get what you want; and after that, to enjoy it. Only the wisest of mankind achieves the second. Author unknown, but I like it!
hey johns I fish bass tourneys up there i'm from south la. and everytime I go which is in oct. we have one scheduled in two weeks but anyway everytime I go there is a lady who fishes by her self in a boat and cocentrates on cypress trees along the canals that have a good drop off the banks . she tite lines a jig alone side the tree trunks in deeper water and I gotta tell u she makes me jealous that I have to fish for bass. she fishes fast and pin points certain trees I haven't figured out her pattern yet. why cretain trees and not others. I guess its from experience. Good Luck
GOT BITE? -----~<*)###>{
Haven't been on Bistineau in prolly 15 years! Used to launch at Kink Burges place across from Port of Bistineau. Lotsa good deep water around there in the river channel...
