Welcome aboard. Glad to have ya here
Heard about this site thru a friend. Thought I'd jump in and see what it's about. Retired and just moved back to Port Barre, La and I would like to fish sac-a-lait at Old River as soon as conditions get right (need help with that). About an hour's drive from me. Familiar with Old River Landing but I'm sure there are others. Please, somebody help me out with info on landings, live bait availability, areas for a newbie to fish, etc. Don't want your private honey hole, just basic knowledge and experiences of the area.
Note: Found a drawing of Old River in Morganza by J.B. Salter online this week. Has names and locations of spots up and down the lake.

Welcome aboard. Glad to have ya here
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
Welcome to the site. Hopefully someone familiar with the area can help you out. Good luck.
Welcome aboard! I'll be listening in to see what others have to say, Old River isn't but a hop and a skip from me.

Welcome Crosbytiger. Lake Dubison on I-49 is not too far. Only 22 miles from Port Barre. Go north on the interstate from 190 and it is behind the rest area. Several guys on here fish it for the spring spawn. "D"
Haven’t fished that Old River since college! Semi-retired now. I do fish a lot of oxbows around Ferriday. The Mississippi River is very low, so the oxbows are still producing fairly well. This might be a good time to go and ride around with your phone camera and take pictures of the log piles and the drains leading into the shallow areas. I fished an oxbow off the Ouachita River today. Haven’t been there since spring. Fish were just about comatose!! Caught 2 nice ones sitting on the bottom in 11 feet of water. Had to put a jig in their face and slowly take it away to get bit. 5 more ignored my jig.
Stii, it was great to get out. Spider rigging with shiners is the best way to learn a spot in my opinion. Down side on oxbows is lots of gar.
Check Old River out. If you have any questions, ask. These guys are really glad to help!!
Sure glad to have you as a member. Welcome again.
