Has anyone been fishing the oxbows sense the river is back down to pool stage? I went Thursday but had to cut my trip short due to a problem with a coon. The fish finder showed plenty of shad and caught 1 keeper pulling cranks.

We went briefly this evening in pool 5. Water was muddy and still high. My friend caught 2 around 2pounds each on ji
g, I got one bite and missed it. I was in the back of the boat. Hard to see stumps, most were underwater. Should get good if the water will drop a foot or two.

The COE keeps the river at 21' in Alex for navigation purposes it's been holding steady all week long, it should be good for the weekend if we don't get much rain.

The water in the channel up north here is muddy. We tried a place just off the channel but no luck. We tried one area away from the channel that was very good, and another area that looked better(clearer), and it wasn't good(or at least we didn't find the fish. We don't fish that area much).
We were just fishing stumps and fallen logs. We keep saying we are going to put out brush piles, but haven't yet. Maybe this fall/winter. As the water continues to fall, it should clear up some more. A slow fall is predicted. Hope your coon dog Spot is doing well!
