    Default Grand Bayou

Years ago I fished Grand Bayou in Coushatta, but haven't in several years now. Is it still pretty good? I haven't heard any talk about it in a while.

    Default one of the best!

when i lived in northern LA not too long ago, i did ALOT of fishing on this lake with a well known member of this site. I cant begin to praise this lake enough. it is BY FAR one of the best (if not THE best) crappie lake in the state of louisiana, and i have fished alot of them. where you may not always get the numbers you can find at spots like darbonne, cypress, and bist., the size and quality of the fish was always head and shoulders above the rest. all my success came on the south-eastern part of the lake, about 3/4's of the way to the dam, in deep water. I helped plant several bamboo tree's out there, and so have several other people, judging from the sonar. one of my fondest memories of fishing that lake came from a mid winter trip with two friends of mine. we put a LOAD of crappie in the boat that day, as our buddy percher can attest to. there were several times throughout the day with all 3 of us were landing fish simultaneously.

if you have the time, and the means, do yourself a favor: get thee to the Grand Bayou!

Mark, its nice to see you taking up the slack for Markhum (another well known member of this site..lol..)

CA, i have never fished it, but I know I have seen alot of pictures on this site and I think most of the bigger fish posted from up north came from Grand Bayou.
You can't fish with a hung line!

Thanks for the info! I'm gonna try to get down there in the next few weeks. When I fished it years ago, I would do real well in june fishing the edges of the creek channel.

Grand Bayou is a beautiful peice of water. We have had a lot of great trips out there. Its a good night fishing lake. BillyP, SonarMark, and I have pulled in slab after slab out there casting jigs if you have lights to fish and hit the right night. Like Mark was saying its a "quality fish" lake that can still produce good numbers in the right conditions.

All this talk is making me want to hitch up the trailer...
