    Default Back from Larto

Spent 3 good days with two good friends at Buds and caught a mess of WP each day. Friday, wound up with 45-50 mixed fish total from Long Branch shallow. Saturday roughly the same but with many better fish from Long Branch shallow. Sunday roughly the same form long Branch but the better fish were gone pecan. The ones I caught were mixed at best and I caught many between the bushes as they were hitting it on the run. I caught my fish on a chartruse with glitter tube jig as well as the Bobby Garland Baby Shad. Looks like the better fish were coming from the lake but not the numbers. We fished all day each day and it was "hand to hand" combat with those button brush, buck brush, button willow, bushes (what ever you call em) and it is pretty difficult to hit the sweet spot with the wind and boat traffic. I love that way of fishing but it will test your patience which comes back when that cork snaps out of sight. Sorry that I have no pics as we cleaned everything trying to beat darkness and we were itching to fire up the pit at Buds. Before leaving, we fished this morning (Mon) till noon and did very little. I only kept two and my buddies had a few more than that. On Sun, I caught several giant Bream in one area about 150 yds into Long Branch. The west wind was blowing and moving the water into LB and around a little corner where the bream were stacked along with a few WP (out from the corner in deeper water). The minnows were jumping in the open water and I tried em. A bit of work but a great time as usual at Larto. EVERYONE READ MY POST ON A HUGE CONCERN AT LARTO!

I ended up taking the route through Vick. The "bean field road" was in the best shape I have seen. Even as it has been very dry, not much dust at all. Hate that winding route though, all 15 miles of it. SLIP

Great report. Congratulations on some good catches. I read your other report, on the Salvinia. So sad. Even sadder that the WL&F agent didn't know what it was.
