It's been a long time since I fished by myself. It was nice to only have to worry about boat position for me, but that didn't help. I was able to hit all the good spots and travel at my own pace. but again that didn't help. I didn't see a sac today. I met someone who said he caught a couple of them early but then nothing. Well I was early, in fact so early that I was fog bound except for my GPS I would have had to wait a couple of hours to get out to the Grove. There were no fish on the banks, there were no fish off the banks, at least in all the canals I tried. I finally caught a small bass which I released. Then nothing after that. The bluegills wouldn't even nibble at my bait. I finally call it a day and headed in. I remembered a little canal I had caught some fish in a couple of years ago and it was on the way home. I pull in and started fishing. After about a hundred yards and ready to give up I caught the larger bass. Well that was and improvement. I fish a little further and caught the smaller one. It was 3:30 and I got a phone call that my son needed my truck. So I headed in. I met another angler and his wife in the same canal and he told me that he caught 2 sacs in the fog early on and that was it. He also caught a few bass later. I guess that's what I get for leaving my lucky charm at home. To bad she had a back ache. Maybe next time.
