    Default Snake shooter choice.

I have a stocked pond and as anywhere get snakes in it. My grandkids are down there all the time, and not as aware as an adult. I try to clean the moccasins out with a 22, but it is literally hit and miss. Anyone ever use a 410? Just wondering if it would be more efficient.

A shotgun of any gauge would be my choice on the cottonmouths. I don't have a .410, but my 12 gauge has accounted for plenty of moccasins.

Rem 870 20 gauge pump shotgun cheaper on shells than 410 and more shot. # 6's or 7 1/2's, 2 3/4 in shells.Have them"snakes" in my neighbor's pond and"cottonmouth's" in the spring creek that runs through our property.Thats what we use a snake struck our cat this morning.

Taurus Judge 410/45 pistol. Works great, plus you can keep it with you, easily.

Depends upon how well you shoot. We busted two last week in the yard. We live on the river, so they are here regular. All the dogs have been bit. Ann has become very good with the 22LR pistol. Don't find it necessary to bring out the big weapons, besides those spooks the dogs.

I'm like Jackie, I got a old beat up 3 shot bolt action moss erg 20 gage that stays on my 4 wheeler. Buy them cheap 2 3/4 number 7 1/2's target load. Burn them dudes up on my pond. Keep it weed eated to the water line but one still migrates in every once in awhile but he dont last long.

I am a dyed in the wool 1911 fan and carry one when in the woods (until it gets cold) loaded with shot shells. I have dispatched cotton mouths, copper heads, and rattle snakes with it. They make these shells for several different calibers for wheel guns and automatics.

Don't ever try to argue snake identification with anyone. Most opinions are set in stone and at least half are wrong.
