At least you got some good action on those bar fish. Were you using jigs or shiners?
All the ramps were so packed the only place we could put in was the State Park. We fished about a mile of channel at the end of the Boat Lane for about five hours ----- the bite was on -- one cat - one three pound Goo -- and 40 Barfish There was nobody fishing that area of the lake sept us Hammerheads

The Lord is good. His mercy and love endures forever.
Thanks for the report. Sounds like lots of traffic for a tuesday. We need to start a rumor that they're biting up at the state park to free up space at the other ramps. ☺
Sounds like you might be fishing behind "Southern Chuter"......
Well I'm glad you got to catch.. Thanks for the report
We were using jigs and shiners Pastor!!!! and shooting everyone up to the Hog pin or Kens landing could also prove usefull
What's a barfish?
I heard the bite has been pretty good on D'Arbonne lately. Looks like the big crappie tournament will bring quite a bit of attention to it. Such a beautiful lake.
I visited for my first time last spring (March) and would love to come down again. I had a blast even though I only caught a few. I did learn the lake better in 2 days of fishing so I have an idea on how to figure out something and where to go.
So with this tournament on the horizon, would it be best to fish a couple weeks after the tournament? Or before?
Barfish is north louisiana slang for a yellow bass, kinda like white perch for crappie I reckon. Fishing is good right now for some people. If it was me I'd come after the tournament. Fish should be spread across AL depths, some still holding on the channel, females cruising the flats and maybe some tight line action (which is my prefrence) on the cypress trees and around grass lines if it's warm enough.
We'll be at the state park weekend after crappie masters for a family weekend with all the little Watt's, can't miss us we'll be the ones with the loud kids.... 😊
I see. We call them white bass up here. Oklahoma calls them sand bass for some reason.
Last year is what you described. A little tight line action and most were still in the channel. Water was about 62 last year when I visited. Tight lining around cypress and docks is awesome! I prefer it over spider rigs and such.
Thanks for the info!
