    Default Houston River 5/4/15

I finished my last final exam today at noon and was on the water by 2pm. It felt good to be on the water again. It had been over a month since I last fished. The weather and school just wouldn't let me go last month. It never failed good weather and I would have an exam on Monday. No exam and it was raining. Today wasn't the best conditions. The water was high, dirty, and flowing. I had no problem finding the bass and goggle eyes. I caught and released 7 bass, 4 sacs, and a bunch of goggle eyes. I found the fish tight to the bank out of the current. Fish were caught on a chartreuse jig.

Good to see you back in the saddle. Any trip on the water is a good trip if you return safely no matter what the catch.

Supposed to be less tomorrow so I'm loaded. If it gets windy like today I'm coming home. Only fish I'm catching is in clear water location canals. Got 5 in Streeter's yesterday and zero in Lac. Going back to Little Prairie tomorrow.

After you are healed from your surgery we need to make a BCDD trip. How did the water look there? Did you go to one mile?

Caught a couple in one mile toward the front. Most of the keepers where in the canal that is not far from the "Duck Pond" canal. It's East of that and also runs North. Water is OK but still has more black water to drain.

BCDD is getting a little far for me, but you never know. I know the canal well, but not from a crappie perspective.

For a career change. I was a chef for 25 years and was looking for a change. I got tired of working like a dog and not getting paid for my time spent. The lake area is having an explosion in the petro chemical industry and I am jumping on board. It will be nice to work shift work and get paid good. I have friends making a $100,000 a year and working 14 days a month.
