Default New to this place: report

I figured since I'm new to this place I'll post a report to say hello

My father-in-law and I tried our luck in the canals around Lake Bouef yesterday and this is what we caught. Where some of you may think that this isn't much, jokes on you because the last two trips we made looking for sacs didn't even end this well.

Btw, what is this? We've always called them white bass or stripers, but I'm not sure it's either one. From what I've found online, I'm thinking yellow bass. Can anyone confirm? It'll be eaten regardless

Welcome to the forum... great catch! That sure enough looks like a yellow bass to me, they eat real nice... white bass will be a little bit more oval shape and not have that yellowish tint to them.

I'm probably wrong but we always called the "barfish", I do know they have a guard over their gill plate that will cut your finger to the bone and it will sting for a while.

My camera would break if it had that many fish in it. Welcome.

    Welcome Doobie,

That's how most of my Bouef trips turn out , but now and again I catch a 20 and its celebration time.

Great report from an area that has been hammered for the last couple of months. You did well my friend and be proud of it. Thanks for posting as we like pictures.

Welcome to the forum from Dodson, LA. Great looking mess of fish. Way more than me or fishervet usually catch. LOL. I don't know the proper scientific name for that fish. I have always heard them called barfish.
