How is the size compared to a regular hook? I am thinking about buy some in the Aberdeen style for minnows. It looked like the number 2 was bigger than a regular number 2.

I've been using mostly a #2 sickle hook for a few years. The Aberdeen sickle hook seems to be a thinner wire type hook which may work better when fishing heavy cover. It would bend easier to when hung in structure.

If you want regular Aberdean sickle minnow hooks they are hard to find. Best pricing I have found is Walmart online. They only come in Red. Pricing was cheaper than the couple of other places I have found them. You can have them shipped to store or home. I find them to be pretty close to standard size. I use #1 or 1/0.

Cabelas has a little sale on and I got a gift card from workAberdeen sickle hooks.. Cray those #1 are pretty big huh? No issues? I'd like to see how much difference there is between a 1 sickle vs a 2 regular.

They are a little bigger but to me not real noticeable. The Sickle has a pretty small barb so not real hard hooking minnows in the lips. I see the biggest difference on the 1/0 from the #2.
