    Default Ouachita River 7-29-14

Put in this morning after work at Ouachita City. Fished downed trees in about 12 FT water. Caught 9 average size specs, couple bass and 1 big gill. Lost 4-5 that I got to the top and they fell off. Didn't get there till 9am and the bite was over by 11.

20 Watt, me and my dad are avid spec fishermen. My dad just relocated here from Franklin Parish. Today was really the best day we've had since he moved and we couldn't fish long. He mostly fished Tensas and Beouf rivers before moving and learning this new territory has been a work in progress lol

I rarely fish it, but my father-in-law fished the Ouachita River for crappie and catfish for years. The Ouachita flows right through my hometown of Camden, Arkansas. In fact, it's called the "Queen City of the Ouachita." All I ever catch in it are drum, BIG DRUM on crawfish. Lots of fun, but nothing to put on the dinner table. GTT

Tenn Titans -- My Brother lives in Camden also. We Caught several good Crappie over close to the Airport at the foot of the bridge. There is a road that comes around the right back under the bridge to the Pilings. The Canal goes to the river backwaters, Local Flooding refills it with Slabs

You fished in a river lake called Woodard Lake. I have caught fish around those pilings before AND around the cypress trees around the banks. I also used to absolutely thrash squirrels during October walking an old logging road that ran alongside the bank. Seemed they were in every tree!

Can't fish or hunt there anymore. Story I heard about 10 years ago was some rich guy from out of town bought all the land around the lake, then blocked the road you spoke of. There is a huge mansion in sight of the airport on the banks of the lake. The rich guy uses it as a deer camp.

Whose your brother? I may know him, I've lived here since 1983. GTT

Well, I guess I don't know your brother or his wife. You'd think in a town with under 13K population, everyone would know everyone, but I don't know them. Take care. GTT
