with a electric knife. Do you replace blades for $10 or buy knife and blades for $25?

    I went with the blades.

Once I went with the mister twister, I haven't had to change blades yet.

I have been having a rapala electric knife for 3 years and havent had to buy new blades. They are still as sharp as the day I bought it. I bought it after I went thru a couple of mister twisters. I have bad luck with the twisters. Stripped the gears on one and burned another one up. They are not the same knife as they were back in the 90's. I had 2 twisters I used in my restaurant that cleaned 1000's of fish and never gave me a problem. But the new ones cant make it thru a few limits of red fish.

I have looked at the twisters in the store and they just don't seem to be worth what they are asking for them.

I do all of the above. I have 3 Mister Twisters and can usually repair the motors if its only a break in the wiring.

Having had bad luck with electric knives, I would say buy a new unit as the old one will probably burn up sooner later. Having said that, I bought a new American Angler Pro and gotta say it may change my mind about them. First test was 90 Crappie. It barely got warm. Another buddy showed up just as we were finishing so I did his 28 fish as well.

The next test was a bunch of saugeye 20" - 22" we had 24, half of which had been on ice all day. Zipped thru them and never slowed down.

Have used a bunch of times since but a while back, my Buddy mentioned that his new GF wanted some catfish. So we kept our limit 20 fish 3#-5# Zipped thru them with ease. Gotta say that shark blade is a machine.

We went thru a couple dozen electric fillet knives over the last couple years and usually ended up using our standby rapala knives. But this year with the AA Pro, we haven't tossed it aside, no one has called it a piece of junk and more importantly it has not failed and has never gotten hot. I have the 5 blades that came with it and I bought a spare shark blade after using it a while but the first blade does not act remotely dull. The whole kit is kinda pricey but after cleaning a couple thousand fish mine is still going strong, but is no longer being shared just because some body forgot a fillet knife or here try this, I am impressed.

I should have bought a couple dozen and started a back of boat business. The dozen of so fishermen that we associate with have all bought one after using mine.

So, If you have a good quality knife, buy a new blade. If its one of the el cheepo's buy a new knife.
