If you mean dark black by the underneath their belly and around their jaw line, those are males and won't get the pigment that causes that for another month or so. Happens during the spawn. If you're talking about an actual black crappie species (spotted instead of lined like a white crappie) there aren't many of those in Lake D'Arbonne, but the ones that are caught there are more abundant up the creeks.

Thanks for sharing your report. I need to get out there so bad but will need to wait until after Mar 1.

Monster Jam in Dallas this weekend then Denver for work the following week. At least I get to ride on our corporate jet... No The and the and rental is on the tarmac when we land.

I did take off the week of March 1 and probably gonna cancel our flight to Orlando (wife is due in early March) so I'll hopefully have plenty of time.

If any of U guys see a little blue and white Tidecraft stick steering boat its me. "Boone" I need all the tips I can get. Please help, I am desperate to learn this Crappie fishing. Not nearly as much problems catching bass or bream. I fish with the same color as the other guys around me and they are catching fish, I don't catch nearly as many as they do.

Same concept in crappie fishing. That's why I keep binoculars in my boat. Lol. Just don't be afraid to get out if your comfort zone. Ask someone what they are using. Most of the time they will tell you (I know I will). Good luck to you and if you ever see a bright blue xpress, please say hello. Rodger aka Blue Thunder

That's alright. You'll get used to that.
