Try that nice tackle shop in the center of Broussard. It doesn't look like it would have a lot from the outside, but it does. I can never remember the name. I'll find it if you need. I was in there a couple of weeks ago to get a Solo reel.
I'm looking for a good place to go that has a decent selection of jig poles in stock. I live in Opelousas. Lafayette, Baton Rouge, and Alexandria (and all points between) are all within driving distance for me. Anybody have any suggestions? I want to be able to hold a few different poles in my hand to see what I like. I buy quite a bit of my stuff online but I just can't bring myself to buy a pole without holding it first.
I've already been to Academy and I'd really like to see a little more variety. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

I don't know where you could feel the pole I am going to link and it would have to be made into a rod by someone, but I have one and just love it. The rod is 7' 6" one piece so with handle it's almost 8'. Its designed as a popping rod, but great for crappie unless your looking for a longer pole. I have the Rainshadow IP 902 RX7 and now want the RX8 next. Everyone that I have told about this rod and got one just loves it. The site for the Mfg. has changed so that it's a lot harder to find and there is no direct link to this rod, but here is the site and just look for the Rainshadow IP902 that is 7'6". It's on page 12 of this catalog and don't look at the page numbers below the catalog, look at the page number that is actually on the catalog.

Country Station in Broussard is a nice little tackle shop. I might try to run by there tomorrow, see if I can give you the down low on their selection before you decide to drive down here.
That's true, not far from where I work. You would never know it from the outside. That was the first place where I saw an umbrella rig, long before it was advertised in catalogs. Cool stuff in there. And, if you're in the neighborhood, get a serious poor boy at BJ's just down the street. The same folks that run Olde Time Grocery near the campus on St. Mary who have been there forever. You guys who have been there know what I am talking about.
