That's what u call Cajun talk!
An old man i knew...was killed by an angry tenant...use to go to the Scott oxidation pond and get them by the 55 gal drum... he had a large stainless steel tank he keep them in...he had a Zebco rod and reel..the kind you would give to a kid...at this time of the year he would fish the railroad pilings & logs in Henderson...caught all the Crappie he wanted.
Wow, you've got to want to catch fish bad to go out and catch a few potbelly minnows. Only way I ever seen them caught is with a seine on the right type bank. It's those little minnows in ponds and lakes. The males have the little white diamond between their eyes and the females look like their bellies are about to pop all the time. I 'll stick to the hand grenades. lol
grenades....easier than dynamite....but........it may be a problem weighing the fish in its entirety for the golden shiner award.....can we submit the sum of the weight of all the parts...of course it would all be from one fish.....I can hear it now....LOL...actually......not
All you need to catch them is a net like this, and go along the bank and catch all the potbelly minnows and grass shrimp you want. The only thing I ever caught on them was a few catfish, might be worth trying again.

Okay, thanks for the info, I'll have to try that. Grass Shrimp wouldn't go to waste either. Freeze those and use them for Bream next spring. I read a book a couple of years ago about White Perch and the book said that White perch feed more by what's hatching most at the moment, or what's most plentiful at the time. Maybe pot belly minnows are most plentiful at this time of year, or it could be just a bunch of hogwash to fill up a book.
I think I know what he is talking about.....when I was a small kid my dad would give us a small limb from a willow tree with a small hook and a split shot.....we would hook a small worm in the middle so both ends wiggled and drop the worm down to the surface of the water in front of the minnows swimming around the bank of the river.....they would suck in the end of the worm but could not bite it off or let go.....so we pulled it out and presto....bait for the catfish or whatever....it was always a surprise when a small bream would come up and hit the worm first....presto, more catfish bait....those minnows had big bellies....
