    Default Darbonne today 12-13

Had a good day on Darbonne today in the fog. Fished the channel between Jakes and Forks Ferry and kept 39. Most were hammers and I threw back several that were small to borderline. Very slow early until 9:30 or so; then for the next hr and a half they turned on and bit really good. The key today was to fish the drop off among the timber in 24 ft of h2o. Go to the bottom and crank up 3 turns period. Most were really close to the timber however when they turned off you would think they were gone. I have never witnessed the actual on/off switch like I did today. I mean from no bites to catching 6 or 8 by certain stumps in a matter of minutes. My fish were split between orange/char tube jig (1/32 oz jh) and a really small piece of nitro called a "Nail Tail" (blue "nail" jig on a little pink head). My only regret is the cleat in the front of my boat ate my prized "Crappie Getter" 11' jig pole. Most folks have done this, you know who you are. Hey Rog I'm gonna make an order to American Rodsmith, I'll get one for you. SLIP..........

    Default Crappie-Getter Jig Poles

I'm gonna check Grizzly out. ARod has them for $39 also but when shipping is added ($20) it ends up at 60 bucks.
I thought it was supposed to rain today and when I finished up a couple little projects it was beautiful so I hitched up and was on the water for 1PM. Ended up with 16 (most very nice) then the front came thru and the wind got pretty bad and on top of that my trolling motor quit. It blows fuses like popcorn. Pulled the prop and opened the head and it looked new and dry??? I'm in Ruston (kinda new to the area). Any TM shops around these parts? I would like for a pro to check it out before I bury it.

Hey Boone, Nitro was just a figure of speech. The "Nail Tail" is a legit little jig that my personal Crappie instructor showed me awhile back. It dosent look as attractive as hair or tubes but don't tell that to the WP. The tail is just that, straight as a nail. Roger has been torching the WP with these (blue or pink) for awhile now. I never saw or heard of this little jig before.

I'm seeing all the action (boats) north of the 33 bridge. Nothing south???

Honey Hole has had the Crappie Getter poles the last few times I was in there. I have a 10bunch ft. ones I really like. Also good catch of fish. Wish I had done but still have house projects going on.
