Welcome to the boards Top. Maybe somebody will jump in and help you out on some lakes to fish. Looking forwards to reading your posts.

    Top teaser,
Just west of you and Donaldsonville is the Atchafalaya Basin. About 80 miles long and stretches all the way to the Gulf.
Also at Pierre Part is Lake Verrett which connects to Grassy Lake which connects to etc.,etc.,
Down around Houma and Gibson are entries into the Marsh.
Then you have the rivers east of you. The Amite is real close.
Southeast of you you have Lake Pontchartrain.
Northwest of Baton Rouge you have False River and Old River.
If you work you will never be able to fish all the places within a 4 hour drive.
Some will be fresh water and some will be salt water - the best of both worlds.
A state map will get you started then narrow down your area and pick up a detailed map at Cabela's there in Gonzales.
    Happy Fishing.

Welcome to the South. Now you'll have to learn to fish all over again. All of the above is good info. There are so many places to fish here and for so many species that you'll never run out of new places to fish. Good luck.

Welcome to the site. Glad to have you join in with us. You are too far east for me to pinpoint an area for you. First thing comes to mind would be the Basin area.
You can't fish with a hung line!
