    Thumbs up N.E. Texas Crappie

Howdy all! I finally got an afternoon off Monday and decided to put it to good use! Went to Pat Mayes Reservoir, a few miles north of Paris with my good friend and pro fishing guide Allen Ballard. Allen said the crappie were biting and he wasn't kidding. For four hours straight, we hammered them! We both caught keepers on our first casts! Pat Mayes is a beautiful lake and I always enjoy going there. There is a 10 inch minimum length for crappie, so we had to cull them down to 29 keepers. We probably caught 200 all together. There were many that measured 9 3/4 inches, just short of the minimum, but at $100 per fish under length, we decided not to risk it. :D

Dru, Congrats on the catch and thanks for the report. Glad to see you were able to make a trip.
You can't fish with a hung line!

Dru that sounds like a great fishing trip to me. It's been a while since I've caught over a hundred fish at one outing. It sure isn't boring is it. Glad you got to do it, fishing is fun when you catch'um like that.
