Thread: chicot

We fished Chicot Dec.20 and came home empty. Water was still a little high then. Was wanderin what the fishin is like at Cocodrie Lake(betwn Turkey Creek & Glenmora).

I'll be setting yoyos this weekend and will try to fish rod and reel. Will post next week, hopefully with pics.

Don't know much about Chicot, but we are still catching them at Bundick's. I kept 146 from the last 4 trips and Dwyane got a bunch too.

If you want to continue catching fish it may be in your best interest to not broadcast when, where and how much you catch at a small lake like Bundick.

First of all, I see this is your first post, so with that, I want to Welcome you to the Crappie.com family. I noticed you did not put your location in your profile, where are you from? You sound like you are familiar with the lake. Are you a local on Bundick's lake?

Secondly, as for what you are saying, I will keep catching them like that, even if I broadcast it. The fish will always be there, and you can always catch them, you just have to figure out where they went and what they are hungry for. I see people fishing the lake with shiners, tied off to a stump and waiting for the fish to come by, then complain about them not biting, when on the same day I have caught 25 of more nice keepers. Sitting and waiting doesn't always work, if they are not where you are, you have to look for them, once you find them, you just have to figure out what they will hit.

Bundick's is a little over 2.5 square miles and it isn't as big as the northern lakes, but there is alot of fish in it, and I just don't see it getting fished out. People have been fishing it since the early 60's and it hasn't been fished out yet, not even back in the late 90's when they drained down to the original creek.

I have been fishing Bundick's regularly for the last few years and have caught alot of fish out of it... Matter of fact, I have been doing posts on Bundick's with fish catches, with pics, water depth, fish depth, and jig colors for along time on this site. So anyone who reads the posts on the Louisiana boards already know about Bundick's and what we are catching there, so it's not like I am revealing some big secret all of a sudden. I have posts on here from Bundick's dating back to December of 2006. All of the members on here know that, and haven't come down and fished the lake out. Matter of fact, I only know of 4 members that have fished Bundick's since I have been posting about it.

Those of us that frequent the board, use it as a place to share some stories and things happening in our lives, and talk about fishing. We share the info on where to go, Where not to go, what to use and when it is happening.. It helps others to know if the fish aren't biting also, and it may save them the time and expense of making a wasted trip.
Anyone that knows me will tell you that I am by no means a selfish person.... If you see me on the lake and I am catching fish and you are not, I will gladly tell you what I am doing, how I am doing it, and where to do it at. And if you don't have the jig that I am using to catch them and I have more than a couple in my tackle box, I will gladly give you some of the jigs to help you out... I have done it several times at Bundick's.

Look for me on the lake, same boat as I always use, 1959 Lonestar 14ft semi V, green with a 25 Johnson on it. Come meet me and I will tell you what is working for me. I will help you out however I can. and I will Gladly do it.

I can personally say that Johnny is ABSOULTELY CORRECT with all of this. Johnny has gave me detailed spots of where he is catching and he has given me some jigs that he was catching on. I have also done this for the 1 or 2 other people that fish bundicks that are from the board.

This board is NOT like the bass boards where nobody tells anybody ANYTHING!, that is not what this board is about. It is about sharing where you are catching and helping out the guys that aren't catching, THAT IS WHAT MAKES THIS BOARD SO GREAT!!

Oh and welcome to the site! Where are you from? Like Johnny said, sounds like you might be a local at Bundicks.

Welcome Fishmaster, glad to have you join us. You know it's great to be able to catch fish but it's greater still when you can help someone else enjoy the pleasure also. This is a family site and thats what makes it the number one crappie site on the net. Why would one want to join such a site and not share info. You could use it as a brag board to only show pictures of your catches and not share anything but I don't think you would find the friendship that we have here. We are not here based on competitiveness but in friendship. In fact I now have friends from all over the state that I wouldn't have met if it wasn't for the sharing and family atmosphere that I've found here. Make plans to join us at one of our gatherings and you'll see what I mean. Good luck with your fishing and if you're ever in my neighborhood give me a shout and I'll give you a map, point you in the right direction, and throw you a handful of hand tied jigs to boot.

I can truthfully say that if it hadn't been for Johnny and Randy (Slabhunter), our last few outings with the C.C group would have been utter disasters, at least the fishing part of it, I mean. With what they have taught us, my wife and I have not only been able to catch fish, we're now getting brave enough to try out some of these Texas lakes we live around, that we have never caught a fish out of. And if we see someone out there that we can share our very limited knowledge and resources with so they too can catch fish, we are only too happy to do so! Thanks to all of you who share where they are biting, (or not biting) and what they are biting on. This information is extremely helpful to those who are still learning like us. And it is much appreciated. I don't think Melissa and I are ever going to fish a lake out, besides, that's what they have limits for. You can bet that if the fish population in Louisiana or Texas lakes starts to drop, those limits will be reduced to compensate.
