Default Larto Gathering Crappie tourney report

Well we had a great time,,at Uncle Buds this weekend on Larto. We had 11 boats fish in the tourney and everyone entered the big fish. Billy ,Kathy's Husband took it home. He had big fish with a 1.85 lb and total 5 fish weigh of 6.09. We had a great time!! We had fish for days to clean!!! We ended up with somewhere around 130 CRAPPIE!!!! TOTAL!!! We had some nice slabs at weigh in !! We had a great time and some great door prizes. We had some hats and case beer,,to cash prizes, one for $25 and one for $50. The GRAND PRIZE drawing was a weekend stay at Uncle Buds cabins,,and that was won by PROCASTER!!! Thanks Uncle Buds and mrs Katy for donating the doorprizes. She drove around and got people in LARTO to donate!!! We had some great food,,man u cant get nothing better than FRESH fried crappie!!!:p YUM YUM,,,Thanks Treefrog for cooking this afternoon. The fish was awsome. Thanks everyone who drove in,I think it was a great time. Im with Johnny on a couple things we need to think about changing,,he said some people dont want to drive far for just a 5hr tourney,,so I think next time we can make it longer!! Also I could see his point on making it a 10 fish,,cause it WAS hard to catch the guy with big fish on a 5 fish stringer. So I think we need to do it again guys. I like it,,was a great weekend and some great fun !!!I have some pics ill post later,,im tired and ready for bed!!!

Thanks for a great report Brendon, sounds like y'all had a great day of it. Wish I could have been there. Y'all did good for a mid-summer tourney. So the local favorite took home the beans, congrats to Billy and to the rest of y'all for taking time to have some friendly competition and fun. Good to hear that Uncle Bud, Kathy and Billy are still on top of things at Larto. Hope to be seeing some of you soon.

    Gatortrax35,
Thanks for the report. I needed a fix like that!
    Congratulations to all that attended.
Congratulations also to the winners, not just the ones that got the prizes, but to all who shared the gathering and did the work getting prizes together and cooking!

the guy that won was just drifting with the wind in the middle of the lake with. also all he was using was orange and brown hair jigs. i think he brought back around 20. Me and dubroc where doing the same in the bayous around some points and flats and we ended up with 5 and we where using all different color jigs tryin to figure it out but blue and white was the better color for me that afternoon after we all ate and left

Justin and I really enjoyed the gathering/tourney.. We got to meet several new members and a future member (right Stupa?). As well as seeing some friends from previous get togethers. And the food was great as well as the fellowship. Thanks to everyone who took part in the catching, cleaning, and cooking of the fish. Great job guys. The fishing was slow for us, we stayed mainly in the bayou near youngbloods and the edge of the lake there. We ended up catching around 15 total and keeping 8. 2 of which shouldn't have been kept. We were drifting/trolling in 12fow bottom bouncing and caught the fish on the shallower side of the boat. Colors: black/orange, red/chartruese, brown/orange.. and the red/chartruese was used with an orange jighead, so I really think the orange had alot to do with the colors.

Another Thanks goes out to Kathy and the crew from Uncle Bud's for everything they did for us while we were there.
And another big Thanks goes to Uncle Bud (Harold Taylor). Before we winded things up sunday, he told us that when/if we do a Fall Gathering that he wants to host a big Gumbo and Trimmings for the Crappie.Com gang. and asked for a little advanced notice of the date if we do it.. I told him that we would be doing a Poll for a date and they would be informed.

Well the guy that won it had 4 poles up front and another guy fishing out the back with 4 poles. each had 4 jigs on . he was covering 25 feet span,,and had 32 baits in the water. He was fishing larto which is a lake you can drift on. drifting is basically,,turning off trolling motor ,,going up wind on the lake,,and letting the wind take you down the lake. SLOW fishing,,but when we slowed down this weekend we caught more fish.
