    Default Boat paddle

I have lost my paddle, I really don't need one with a trolling motor. I have checked Ky. boating regs. out and can't find a paddle mentioned. At one time I think it was a law to have one on board. Has this changed, or am I overlooking something?

it is probably not a regulation but it is smart to have one. i have had bass boats since 1982 and have not need one to paddle back to the launch with. but i have used one several times to push away from the bank if you drift up to close to use the trolling motor. my favorite use is to whack snakes with it when they try to climb into the boat. i would not want to go to the lake with out one. they dont cost that much and they are very cheap insurance to keep you from being stranded. but thats just my opinion.

It may be a regulation on only certain bodies of water,
like the river, there's more reg's for the river.
So you may want to check into that.

I didn't think I needed one either but once the nut worked loose on the trolling motor and lost the prop but was able to paddle from bush to bush and still caught crappie instead of going home.

I seem to have the worst luck with my trolling motor or battery. I've paddled my way back to the ramp because I just can't remember to charge the battery. Thinking I did and doing are two different things.

I've also run over the battery one time with the truck when pulling back up the ramp... don't ask:rolleyes:. I used to paddle to just cross the river and tie off to a limb. My buddy and I caught almost 30 fish from that log!

Keep in mind... It sure would suck not having one if you did have problems. That would be like tempting fate .
