    Default Herrington 5.3.08

We fished Herrington from 11am till 8pm on Sat. The wind was awful but he hung with them. Caught most of our fish on isolated structure fishing a white curly tail on a slow steady retrieve. Water temp was 64-67 and some of the white crappie still had eggs. Was a good day over all. Had 3 fish 15" or better.

I fished Herrington today (05-04-08). I caught 8 keepers, most were 10" , but I did have 1 that was 12". Three that were 15"; those were very nice, congrats to you. I caught all of mine fishing minnows under slip bobbers fishing around trees about 2'-3' deep. Put in at Bryant's, but no luck there so I made my usual run to Spears Creek. I did talk to a gentleman and his wife and they said that they fought the wind Sat and caught 22 keepers, but only managed 5 today. He said they have been having very good luck up the river from Bryants. I am going to have to head that way next week-end, I have never fished that section before but I am going to have to try it. He said that most of his fish has eggs; none of mine did. I do wish the water was still up high so more brush would be availible; seems like they are pulling it real hard. Maybe they will cease pulling it, but I doubt it. KU seems to make the lake levels unpredictable. It goes from one extreme to the other, it seems.
