I don't know if you guys are aware, but last year starting on July 1st, the state of Kentucky started charging sales tax on fishing tournament entry fees.
6% sales tax on a tournament entry may not sound like much, but for the big events with very high entry fees, it does make a difference, so much so that some trails don't want to come to lakes in Kentucky because of it.
A bill was recently introduced to exclude fishing tournaments from the tax, as well as boat ramp fees. Anything you guys can do to help spread the word and get some support for the bill would be appreciated.
KY House Bill 29
Amend KRS 139.010 to exclude fees paid to enter or participate in a fishing tournament and fees paid for the usage of a boat ramp from the definition of admissions; apply to fees paid on or after July 1, 2018.
