Greenfish, I`m new to cave run only been there one time and have few questions. Do you know how the fish cover is working that was placed there a few years back? I have seen a video of the state installing different types last year. I was going to try and find a few crappie this winter and thought about the cover?
Is there only the one boat ramp by scotts marina for launches? The time I was there the wind came straight into it and really made it hard to control the boat, ended up with several scrapes on the side of it.
Just want to get out of the house and get in my boat, crazy but thats what fishermen do as you know I`m sure.
Thanks for any advice or suggestions

Here's some info for you that might be useful :

KDFWR map of Cave Run w/GPS coordinates (3 versions) and icons showing what type of cover was placed at each location:

Cave Run Lake Fish Attractors - Google My Maps

You can also use Google Maps or Google Earth to zoom in on the lake and find other launch ramps (such as the Alfrey ramp). I'm not sure about the other 10 ramps on the lake being viable launching areas at this time of year, as I've only used the Alfrey Ramp and the Scott's Marina Ramp (both of which are pay to use ramps). The Alfrey Ramp is just down the road from the marina, at the Twin Knobs campground road.

Here's a link that will show you the daily water level of Cave Run : Louisville District Daily Lake Report ... and if you click on the red highlighted number under "Today's Pool Feet" it will show you a chart of the last year's water level changes, precipitation amounts, and inflow/outflow (in cubic feet per second - cfs).

I've only been to Cave Run once since they put in all the new attractors, and I didn't fish any of them on that trip. But, when I was there (in Oct), I did see quite a few boats fishing the KDFWR brushpiles out in the middle of the lake. Those would be on the end of the flats that are between the Twin Knobs/Alfrey ramp & the Zilpo Recreation Area (but closer to the Zilpo side).

Don't know if this will come up for you, but here's the Navionics Chartviewer page showing the lake & contours (zoom in for more contour detail) : Navionics ChartViewer

Alfrey is the better ramp for windy days, you can also use the new ramp at stoney cove, its across the dam. I fish the kdfwr placed structure at times, we are heading there Thursday if all goes well to do some spider rigging. Good Luck and God Bless.
