Hey, Bubba .... I think I know why they're hanging around the 10' depth (check this chart out) :

The gold dots represent the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water at that depth. Anything below 5 is too low for most fish to survive in for very long.

The blue squares represent the water temps at that depth (measured in Celcius ). The chart shows that from the surface down to about 7ft deep the water temps are around 81deg. They start dropping down in temp as you go deeper.

The reason I always mention that these temps & O2 readings are "taken at the dam" is because the water in that area goes undisturbed, for the most part, and doesn't always reflect the same readings if taken in other parts of the lake. They can only be used as a guideline of sorts.

I mentioned that I thought I knew why they were at the 10ft depth, based on the O2 reading going below the 5mg/L threshold below that depth (plus the 5deg drop in water temp from surface to 10ft deep).

And no, it doesn't mean they are close to the dam .... just that the readings were taken at the dam, & may vary quite a bit in other parts of the lake. That's why I always mention that the readings were taken "at the dam", so people wouldn't mistakenly think those readings were the same all over the lake.

(Note: I use a conversion site to turn the Celcius temps into Fahrenheit temps)
Thanks dannyr3_8 thanked you for this post
