sometimes that's the way it is, but at least you got out there
We made one of our annual trips to Kentucky lake this past weekend and found it very slow fishing.
We typical long line and caught very few fish. Seems like everything weather wise went against us. Cold front pushed thru Thursday night with plenty of rain giving us dirty water , lake had been drawn down to 5 ft below summer pool( dropped 15 ft in 2 weeks), and the wind. We went down Thursday and fished Barkley for a couple hours and picked up a few fish, one just under 2 lbs. Went to blood Friday, water in back of creek was heavy stained, clearer toward mouth. Picked up a couple shorts and one keeper on a crankbait. Tried long lining jigs, minnows in brush and on banks, casted jigs and road runners to bank.
Nothing seemed to work.even pulled cranks near mouth.
Friday went to Jonnathan and windy was brutal.picked up a a couple keepers and shot on point drop offs but wind made it extremely hard. Got up Sunday to cooler temps and bad weather coming in that evening, so packed up and headed home. Save vacation days for better weather.
Goodluck y'all.

Dog, I fished last week too. Didn’t burn em up but did manage to average about fifteen keepers a day. Even Friday and Saturday in all that dadgum wind. Took me a few days to figure a pattern but once I did I picked em up. Couple pics from Friday and Saturday.
You don't count Chaunc. Everybody knows you can catch fish out of a new bucket at Lowes. The rest of us have been taking it on the chin.

Glad somebody is catching them. Marked plenty of fish in creek channels but couldn't slow down enough to get baits o, them
Dad and and I fished this past Friday and Saturday. We managed to find few. We put 30 in the livewell between 10-2:30 Friday. Then took my wife and kids out on the boat for a few hours. That wasn't very productive but they had a blast and even got to reel in a few yellow bass. Saturday we got on the water early and kept 11 before the winds kicked up. From what we saw there were plenty of fish still out in the deeper water. We couldn't find a crappie in less than 12 foot.
I know there are a lot of fears about what's going on with the fish. I am certain the carp are having an impact, but I wouldn't discount the impact of the flooding and constantly changing water levels and temps as well.

Don't feel rained on, I was there Thursday-Sunday and it was brutal! I caught 15 keepers Thursday, 12 keepers Friday, 5 keepers Saturday. I didn't even bother to try Sunday, I packed up and headed home at first light. On a better note I got to meet Chaunc at Kenlake while taking a break Saturday.

It was a pleasure getting a chance to sit and talk with you and your Buddy after meeting you at the dock last year. I didn’t go out Sunday either. I may still be here when you get back. Post here when you come back and if I’m still around, I’ll get mrdux to join us for breakfast or lunch.
